arrival in China. HIV-positive Travellers are not permitted to enter the
country.
PASSPORTS: Required by all. Passport must be valid for at least six
months for a single or double entry within three months of the date of
visa issue; at least nine months for multiple entries within six months.
VISAS: Required by all:
(a) 1. nationals of Brunei, Japan and Singapore for stays of up to 15
days;
(b) transit passengers (except nationals of the UK and USA, who always
require a visa) continuing their journey by the same or first connecting
plane to another country within 24 hours who hold valid onward
documentation and do not leave the airport.
Types of visa and cost: Tourist/Business/Transit (UK nationals):
£30 (single-entry); £45 (double-entry); £60 (multiple-entry for business
visas only; six months); £90 (multiple entry for business visas only; 12
months and two to five years). Group (at least five people): £24 per
person. Visa charges for other nationals vary; check with Embassy for
further information.
Validity: Tourist, Business and Group visas are normally valid for
three months from the date of issue (single and double-entry).
Multiple-entry visas are normally valid for six months, 12 months or two
to five years. The validity of Business visas varies. Transit visas are
generally valid for up to seven days. |

Entry restrictions: All
visitors must show evidence of sufficient funds to support themselves
during their stay.
PASSPORTS: Passport valid for at least six months after the period
of intended visit required by all.
VISAS: Required by all:
(a) 1. British Citizens for stays of up to 180 days (British Overseas
Citizens, British Subjects, British Protected Persons and nationals of
British Dependent Territories may stay for up to 90 days);
(b) 2. nationals of Commonwealth countries for stays of up to 90 days
(except nationals of Samoa, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Uganda for stays
of up to 30 days, and nationals of Bangladesh, Cameroon, India, Lesotho
and Mozambique for stays up to 14 days): nationals of Grenada, Nigeria,
Pakistan, Sierra Leone and the Solomon Islands do require a visa;
(c) 3. nationals of EU countries for stays of up to 90 days (except 1.
British citizens for stays of up to 180 days);

Types of visa and cost: Tourist; Business (single- and
multiple-entry); visas generally cost HK$135, but this varies according to
nationality and nature of visit. Enquire at the Chinese Consulate (or
Consular section at the Embassy) or the Hong Kong Immigration Department
for details. Transit: HK$70.
Validity: Three months. Extensions are possible for about HK$135.

Restricted entry and transit:
Nationals of China (PR) are not currently permitted to enter Taiwan unless
on business.
PASSPORTS: Passport valid for at least six months required by all.
VISAS: Required by all except the following, provided they have no
criminal record, have a confirmed return air ticket or air ticket and visa
for next destination, and seat reservation for departure:
1. nationals of countries referred to in the chart above (except nationals
of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland,
Slovak Republic and Slovenia who do require a visa), and nationals of
Brunei, Costa Rica, Iceland, Korea (Rep), Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Monaco,
New Zealand, Norway, Singapore and Switzerland for stays of up to 30 days
(this period cannot be extended).
Types of visa and cost: Single-entry visitor: £25. Multiple-entry
visitor: £50. Landing: NT$1200, plus NT$800 handling fee. Multiple-entry
visas are issued for business purposes only and require a document from
employer regarding purpose of visit.
Validity: Single-entry visitor: up to three months; up to two
extensions of 60 days each may be granted by local police stations for
certain applicants, if they have stayed in Taiwan for an initial period of
at least 60 days and documents have been submitted that provide evidence
for the necessity of an extension. These visas are valid for three months
from date of issue. Multiple-entry visitor: six months from date of issue.
Landing: 30 days. A visa is not required by Travellers continuing their
journey by the same or connecting aircraft on the same day, provided
holding confirmed onward tickets and the necessary travel documentation
and provided not departing from the transit lounge. |
